Carl Film Policy & Forum

The Baltic Sea is no border separating us, it is an ocean that ties us together.

Carl Film Policy

Carl International Film Festival was initiated by Filmplan with the ambition to support the development of a thriving film industry in Karlskrona, Blekinge and eventually southeastern Sweden. Carl Film Forum, the industry event of the festival, has from the starting point three years ago addressed film policy in its program.

From 2019 we decided to separate the regional and municipal film policy discussions from the international film industry forum to instead initiate Carl Film Policy. Carl Film Policy aims to create a forum where political decision-makers and the film industry can come together and find ways to make the medium of film and moving images the important cultural expression and engine for economic growth as it has the potential to be. Not just in the four well-established film regions, but in the whole of Sweden.

Carl Film Forum

Carl Film Forum (CFF) is the festival’s industry platform, hosting high-end panel discussions and networking opportunities. Engage in the discussion between private investors and producers about the relation, communication, and expectations between the two. In addition to the forum program, the accreditation also grants access to industry receptions as well as all events and screenings during the festival.

The next event is held 24-25 August 2020.

Carla Think Tank

Carla Think Tank is organized by Carl International Film Festival together with WIFT (Women In Film & Television) in order to embrace and strengthen sustainable innovation, entrepreneurship, and gender equality in the film industry. The goals within Carla Film Tank is to identify and see the possibilities in a changing landscape, find and bridge gaps to create change within the industry, and bring out research that gives us a clear picture of both the problems and solutions.

Carla 2020 is a global digital conference on diversity and inclusion in the film and TV industry. It will convene the international film ecosystem to paint a holistic and intersectional picture of diversity and inclusion to date. We will introduce progressive research, discuss best practices, and launch ground-breaking initiatives to create lasting structural change in our industry.
